from sport to enterprise ?

AiSTS - International Academy of Sport Sciences & Technology, Scientific Parc C, EPFL

After Alinghi victory, it is time to learn from sport to enterprise. This panel will gather specialists from Lausanne University, International Olympic Comittee and of course from Alinghi Team !

AiSTS run the Master in Sport Administration & Technology (MSA), a multi-disciplinary international postgraduate pro-gramme educating the managers of tomorrow. Co-signed by EPFL, Uni. Lausanne, Uni. Geneva & IDHEAP, the MSA teaches the technological dimension of sport in connection with management & economics, medicine & health, law and social sciences.

Ernst & Young supports the MSA students by providing scholarships.

The AiSTS at Scientific Park, EPFL, is a non-profit founda-tion of the International Olympic Committee, the Uni-versities of Lausanne, Geneva & Neuchâtel, EPFL, IDHEAP, HES Macolin, HES Valais, Canton of Vaud and City of Lausanne. AiSTS conducts research projects and provides high education programmes for any kind of organizations related to sport (incl. federations, clubs, athletes, sponsoring companies, event’s organizing committees, sporting goods companies, marketing agencies, consultants, professional teams, governmental services, sport facilities, educators etc).

Startups offering technology/service in the domain of sport have 5 min. to present their project and convince the public.

Prosonis: provides in-depth data and statistics on team and player performances enabling fans to get new intelligence and become insiders.

John Antonakis, Professor, HEC University of Lausanne
The theory: "Inspirational leadership"

John Antonakis (Greece) is Professor at the Business School HEC, Uni. Lausanne. He was postdoctoral fellow of Yale University, Deptm. of Psychology. His research includes cognitive antecedents of effective leadership, the contextualization of transformational/charismatic leadership and the links among leadership, work design, and mo-tivation.

Gilbert Felli, Olympic Games Executive Director,
International Olympic Committee
Leadership and team management at the Olympic Games:
"Managing team in large projects"

Gilbet Felli joined the IOC in 1990 as Director of the IOC Department of Sports. He is currently Executive Director for the Olympic Games, including the bidding process. On many occasions, he has also been President of the organising or technical committees for competitions such as world and continental championships in skiing, tennis, figure skating, curling, archery, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball and athletics. He was Director of the Sports Department of the City of Lausanne, Director of the Sports Centre and Ski school in Leysin. Mr Felli participated in a ski professional circuit in the USA for several years. He has a diploma in architecture, which he obtained in Geneva, followed by several years’ work in construction business in Switzerland before working in the sports world.

Edgar Grospiron, Olympic Games Gold Medalist,
Entrepreneur, Management Consultant
Leadership and team management by an Olympic Champion: “Motivation and performance: from sport to enterprise”

Edgar Grospiron (France) was Ski Mogul Olympic Champion at Albertville (1992), bronze medalist at Lillehamer (1994) and three-time World champion. He is “Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur”. Following his professional athlete carrier, he organizes major sport show events like the Tam Tam Ski Show and the Pepsi Edgar Show. He was chief co-editor by Ski Français magazine and consultant at France Télévision for Salk Lake Olympic Games. He is also an entrepreneur: he created Ridearth, a web portal startup servicing the “fans de la glisse”. Today Edgar Grospiron is research project leader by Salomon SA and is also an independent consultant specialized in the management of performance and motivation, advising, educating and coaching compa-nies, sport teams and managers.

Grant Simmer, Design Team Coordinator, Alinghi Team SA
Leadership and team management by alinghi:
"Coordinating alinghi design team with the sailiors."

Grant Simmer (Australian) was one of the key performers in Australia II's victory in 1983, when the America's Cup was taken away from the United States for the first time in its history. Since then, he has played a key part in each and every edition. He has been sailing since he was 8. He trained in mechanical engineering. Grant crystallizes the collaboration between the design team and the sailors, enforcing the skill and talent of the entire alinghi team as a whole.
