This BioFirst session is organized in collaboration with Merck Serono and Ernst & Young.

With 148 biotech companies and 72 biotech suppliers, Switzerland boasts the world’s higher per capita biotech density. In 2007, the Swiss biotech industry generated a turnover of more than CHF 7 billion and had a workforce of over 14,000. Located in the heart of Europe, the Swiss biotech industry is in close proximity to important biotech areas in neighbouring Germany, France and Italy and is a perfect gateway to the EU markets that includes 450 million consumers.

What are the trends for the next years and how Biotech is a driving force in the Swiss economy ? Ernst & Young who has tracked the progress of biotechnology for two decades will present the results of its newest 2008 global survey on the state of the biotech industry worldwide and in Switzerland.

Don’t miss the opportunity to discover the amazing location and architecture of the Merck Serono headquarter’s in Geneva and meet the Biotech experts invited to this BioFirst.
